INSTRUCTIONS FOR NEW & EXISTING MEMBERS
New Members & Existing Members who are adding a new student(s):
- Select, Fill out, and submit LHUG Registration Form for the city/county you reside in (this will need to be done annually).
- Pay the $50 yearly fee (per family)
- If you are new to homeschooling and/or to LHUG, you have to download, fill out, and email a notification form that applies to you (city, or county; scroll down for more info). Notification forms are sent in only once per child, unless your enrollment status changes (i.e. enrolling with a different umbrella group).
- If you are new to homeschooling and/or to LHUG, Schedule your pre-enrollment appointment HERE and one of our more experienced homeschoolers will contact you soon for a phone interview.
Goals of the interview include: clarifying your plan and curriculum for your homeschool (especially in the areas of English, Math, Social Studies, Science, Health, Physical Education, Music and Art), and to offer helpful guidance and resources, as well as ensure that you are connected to the homeschool community in the ways that work best for you (Whatsapp, Signal, Activity or age based groups, etc).We look forward to having a wonderful school year together!
If your child is new to homeschooling, you will need to submit a Homeschooling Notification Form to your local school jurisdiction homeschool contact person.
This is not required, but if you opt in, this testing must be arranged by contacting the principal of your specific public school system. This does not include SATs or other federal level testing. If you say on this form (homeschool notification form) that you want to participate in testing, (by selecting Part B, 2A on the form), please note that you will need to contact schools (principal) in your jurisdiction during February of each year regarding the testing for grades K-5, and in September to arrange testing for 8th graders. There are no state standardized tests for grades 6,7, 9, 10, 11 or 12. If your child participates in testing, tests will be submitted to the Maryland State Department of Education for grading and in turn, test results will be mailed directly to parents.
