How We Operate
Welcome to the Lubavitch Homeschool Umbrella Group (LHUG)
If you are new to the idea of Jewish homeschooling, please watch “Jewish Homeschooling in a Nutshell” (1 hr 20 min webinar) on our home page (it will answer a lot of your initial questions).
Whether you have decided to homeschool or you are still exploring your options, we strongly encourage you to sign-up anyway, to legally cover yourself and how you are teaching your child during the period of time that your child is not enrolled in any specific school.
Ready to sign-up for homeschooling and register with Us? Great! It’s just 3 easy steps. 
1) Send us your filled-out City / County Notification Form. This will register your child(ren) directly with your Educational Jurisdiction to legally cover your child as a “homeschooler” for this school year.
2) Send us your filled-out LHUG Application Form, if you want LHUG to be your proxy/liaison and handle the ‘review process’ instead of the city or county. We’ve been told our requirements and process are much more relaxed, family-friendly, and takes a lot of the pain and stress of documenting your child(rens) curriculum to the state.
Forms are normally due by 15 days before public schools begin their year (15 days prior to starting your homeschooling) However, the cut-off dates are not set in stone, and we often get allowances for late-comers, just contact us and do it as soon as reasonably possible. We will work it out.
If your child becomes enrolled in another school at some point later this year, that is totally fine. The new school will notify your city or county of the new registration.
Connecting into the group offers you continuous valuable resources, a place to ask your questions, get guidance and know what social, academic, or extracurricular activities are happening in your area, or to offer to start one.
Our main channels of communication are via our Whatsapp Groups, The Primary sub-group is ‘Homeschooling Heroes’ WhatsApp group.
To join our Whatsapp group and any subgroups, please “contact us” and include the ages/genders of your children.
